An excursion in the heart of the Lattari Mountains, between Agerola, Pimonte, and Gragnano, in the geographic centre of the mountain range that took its name from the many mule tracks (in Italian mulattiera). Trekking between history and charm, going along the most ancient traces of the Maritime Republic of Amalfi. We will also walk on the other side of the coast, where the boundaries of the republic were connected to the trade of the external world and the strongholds (Castrum Pini) used to dominate the picture. Guests will learn more about the history of that time, soaking up the environment and the way to move in the past, walking on very old stone tracks. The most intense and genuine trekking of the Lattari Mountains. You will walk on the calcareous tops of Mount Faito, the highest mountain of the province of Naples (1144m above sea level) as well as the highest and closest to the sea inEurope. Visitors will admire the ruins of Pompeii from above, the Campania plane, Vesuvius, Capri, and the whole Sorrento Peninsula. An excursion for lovers, where biodiversity and landscape come together when walking in the Aarea (a fully protected zone) of the Regional Park of the Lattari Mountains, surrounded by century-old beech trees and insect-eating plants. An itinerary as old as it is fascinating, Alta Via was the first hiking track/trailthat CAI (Italian Alpine Club) traced on the Lattari mountains. The full track includes 95 Kilometres to cover in 4 days, from Salerno to Sorrento, from Cava dei Tirreni to Punta della Campanella, visiting the already high peaks of the mountainridge that separates the Campania coast in two gulfs, Naples and Salerno.
