Our tour will start from Rome and its most important and known fortress, Castel Sant’Angelo, housing classical and Renaissance findings. Then, we will follow along via Aurelia to discover a significant, yet hidden, manor of Roman countryside, an ancient outpost located at the entrance of the city. Here, we will enjoy a relaxing break to taste local typical products.

Our tour will continue with a visit to the wonderful lake Bracciano, dominated by the austere and impressive castle owned by Roman historical Orsini family. The building is perfectly intact and preserved. We will then stop in Viterbo, main centre of Tuscia, whose medieval historic centre, almost in its original conditions, will allow us to travel back in time to the splendours of the “City of Popes”.

On this day, we will visit one of Tuscia’s best preserved castles, namely Vasanello castle that belonged to the Orsini family. It also boasts an amazing and vivid garden. After a little break in this borgo, we will go to Collalto Sabino, where the impressive fortress provides an evocative view over the inland area of Rieti.

Today, we will focus on one of the most remarkable fortresses that can be found in Ciociaria. We will visit the castle of Fumone that became important due to its strategic position in the valley of Sacco and on the ancient road that connected Rome to Naples. Then, we will head to the borgo of Ceccano, where its fortress has been for a long time and also recently a prison.

The last stop of the tour will take you to the castles located in the province of Latina. We will visit the castle of Sermoneta that imposingly overlooks the same-name borgo. It allows you to enjoy a breath-taking view over the Pontina plain. Then, we will reach Gaeta, a town along the coasts of southern Latium, whose majestic castle, built on a rock spur, provides an amazing view over the Tyrrhenian Sea and the town.
