Giorno 1: Naples
Our tour will start in Naples where we will visit two of its very central castles. We will begin with the medieval Maschio Angioino castle, overlooking Piazza Municipio. Then, we will discover the more ancient Castel dell’Ovo, over the Gulf of Naples, to narrate all the ages experienced by the town.
Meeting point in Naples central station, left luggage storage service at the station, guided tour of Maschio Angioino castle, street-food lunch, guided tour of Castel dell’Ovo, city sightseeing, dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Naples – Pimonte
From the castles by the sea, we will move to Castel Sant’Elmo, located on the Vomero hill, to dominate the whole town and overlook its streets and coasts. We will be able to realize its strategic importance while enjoying its amazing view. Then, we will transfer to the Lattari mountains, in Pimonte. This is where we will discover Castrum Pini, a hidden gem that is strictly connected with the history of the old Maritime Republic of Amalfi.
Breakfast, checkout and transfer for a guided tour of Castel Sant’Elmo, transfer to the resort located in Pimonte, lunch, trekking to Castrum Pini, return to the Sant’Angelo Resort, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Maiori
We will continue our mountain tour and reach Maiori, in the heart of the Amalfi coast. This is wherewe will visit the San Nicola de Thoro Plano castle, a fortress built as a shelter from the raids of the Lombards first, and, then, of pirates’ attacks. The history of the Lombards is strictly connected with the Arechicastle, through which we will admire Salerno and its wide gulf.
Breakfast, checkout and transfer toMaiori. Visit of S. Nicola De Thoro Plano castle in Maiori, lunch in Maiori, free time and guided tour of the borgo, transfer to Arechi, guided tour of the Arechi castle, transfer to Salerno, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Gesualdo
The journey on the last day will take you through the heart of Irpinia, far from the coast, at the castle of Gesualdo. Here, we will learn a lot from the connection between the castle and arts, especially Carlo Gesualdo’s art. He was a famous composer and a major innovatorin the field of polyphonic music.
